We are proud to share that Dr. Katie Kraus, Associate Professor in Nutrition, Dietetics & Food Sciences, has received the Undergraduate Research Faculty Mentor of the Year Award (2025). This award celebrates faculty who make a lasting impact through teaching, research guidance, and mentorship.
The story about Dr. Kraus is particularly valuable. Having been an Undergraduate Research Fellow herself, she is aware of the opportunities and challenges that define the paths of research of students. Based on her experiences, she has created a mentoring model that is composed of encouraging, organizing, and rigorous academic practices.
Her dedication has already been acknowledged by leading organizations, including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA). These honors reflect her continued efforts to strengthen the field of nutrition and support the growth of future professionals.
Dr. Kraus is a passionate and considerate leader and is described by both students and peers as a role model. She provides undergraduates with the chance to engage in meaningful research and thus gain confidence, develop critical thinking, and establish future career.
