We are proud to celebrate Kevin Andrea, a full-time Computer Science faculty member since 2018, who has been honored with the 2025 Teaching Excellence Award. This award recognizes teachers who inspire their students, bring new approaches to learning, and create lasting impact through their dedication to education.
Kevin’s career reflects a unique blend of academic dedication and real-world experience. Before joining the faculty, he served 11 years in the military, gaining skills that shaped his discipline and leadership. He also worked as a research associate at the C4I & Cyber Center, where he contributed to projects at the intersection of defense and technology.
Since stepping into academia, Kevin has brought that same focus and determination to the classroom. His passion lies in systems and low-level programming, areas where he challenges students to think deeply and problem-solve with confidence.
The Teaching Excellence Award celebrates educators who go above and beyond. Kevin’s recognition highlights his commitment to his students and his role in preparing the next generation of computer scientists. His impact extends beyond the classroom, as he continues to mentor, guide, and support those he teaches.
Colleagues and students describe Kevin as a dedicated teacher who cares deeply about learning and growth. His award is not only a recognition of his hard work but also a reflection of the lives he has touched along the way.
