The Hon. Julia Gillard AC Receives Honorary Doctorate from the University of Sydney

Julia Gillard was Australia's 27th Prime Minister and is the only female to ever hold that position. Her public life has been dedicated to providing greater numbers of people with equitable access to education, providing attention to mental-health concerns and opening doors for women in leadership.

At the University of Sydney ceremony on 15 October 2025, the award recognized her "consistent contributions to the fields of education, mental health and leadership which have had a lasting and transformative influence on Australian society".
