We are delighted to salute Prof. Michael Davies-Coleman, who would be the winner of the Distinguished Alumni Award 2025. This is an award given to graduates who have left a permanent imprint in their respective disciplines and gave back to the society in the form of knowledge, leadership and service.
Prof. Michael Davies-Coleman is an Emeritus Professor at Rhodes University and an Extraordinary Professor at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). For decades, he has dedicated his career to advancing research in marine natural products, a field that explores the rich chemical diversity of marine life to uncover potential solutions in health and science.
The work of Prof. Michael Davies-Coleman has influenced research and university studies. His discoveries have enlarged the world knowledge on marine biology and have also created capacity in science learning. His excellent accomplishment as a researcher, mentor, and leader is commended by the Distinguished Alumni Award 2025.
